In addition to my own health journey sparking my interest in helping others make positive lifestyle changes, I was inspired by my family. Last year, in preparation for a kidney organ donation for my brother, I watched my father go from living years with prediabetes, to being approved for the transplant and the prediabetes diagnosis reversed, in just a few months. This was achieved by simply focusing on consistent physical activity, being more mindful of what he was putting in his body, and of course with the support of our family. Seeing firsthand what a difference diet and lifestyle changes can make inspired to me to pursue a career out of helping others do the same. Feeling unfulfilled in my corporate desk job, I decided to go back to school to start down the path to becoming a Holistic Health Coach.
What drew you to Wellness Minneapolis?
I wanted to support a team and mission that I resonated with. I was looking for an environment in which to learn, and grow. I was (and am!) inspired by this incredible team of women who are following their passion, living in their purpose, and all the while positively affecting the lives of everyone they come in contact with.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A positive mindset, and recognizing each new day is a gift. Knowing that I am on a path towards something good is highly motivating. I am reminded of my favorite Buddha quote, “Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.”
What are you currently working on in your professional life?
Currently I am in school to become a certified Holistic Health Coach, where I am learning about the incredible impact food, diet, and lifestyle can have on our overall health and well-being. My intent is to help guide others in making meaningful, positive lifestyle changes by supporting the development and progress towards personal wellness goals.
What is your favorite dish/meal?
I love throwing together a good Buddha bowl, grain bowls with any and all veggies, beans, avocado in some form (always), hummus or a quick tahini sauce, and some hot sauce. It is the perfect way to clean out the fridge or use up those leftovers, you really can’t go wrong!
How do you spend your free time?
I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my two nephews, seeking out fun events around the Twin Cities. I am very active and enjoy yoga and running around the Uptown lakes. Snowboarding trips are a highlight in the winter months, and lake and cabin life in the summer. And, of course, what consumes my free time currently, is schoolwork.
What do you look for in a health care provider?
I value genuine interest in listening, understanding, and helping. I look for a provider who will take the time to connect. Someone who is in the work not just as a career, but because it is their passion to help, and to heal. I see these traits in all the practitioners here at Wellness Minneapolis!
