Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used forms of medicine in the world. Originating in China more than 2,500 years ago, acupuncture is currently one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine available.
A full-service acupuncture and Asian medicine appointment provides you with a holistic healing process that involves a comprehensive initial interview and treatment which will include acupuncture and one or more additional modalities including moxibustion, cupping, gua-sha, electrical stimulation, tuina, herbal and dietary therapy. These traditional treatments are performed in a private comfortable setting and pre-sterilized, single-use needles can be placed on the head, ears, torso, back, neck and shoulders, hips, and limbs. Community Acupuncture (Not Currently Available)
Community acupuncture provides a more affordable treatment option to patients. By sharing space with other patients and shortening the length of the intake, your acupuncturist is able to reduce costs and pass along the savings directly to you. With this treatment option you remain fully clothed and are seated in a comfortable reclining chair, needles can be placed on the head and ears as well as arms from shoulder to fingers, and/or legs from knee to toe. Some abdominal points can also be used depending on your condition and comfort level. If you are looking for a lower cost option with a simpler treatment plan, this is the path for you!
Most conditions can be treated with either individual or community acupuncture, however conditions such as back pain and sciatic nerve pain are typically better treated in individualized sessions where the areas of pain are directly accessible. If the preferred points are not easily accessible in the community acupuncture (back of the body and upper abdomen) acupuncturists are able to use distal points for treatment, although supplementation with a couple full-service appointments may be beneficial. Alternating between full-service and community appointments can keep the cost down and still provide great results. If you have any questions about what a community acupuncture treatment, schedule a complimentary phone consults with an acupuncturists.
Initial Visit: $50
Follow-Up Visit: $30

Any of the following modalities may be used during your acupuncture treatment
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine heat therapy that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing and health. Mugwort is shaped into a stick almost like a cigar. The tip is lit until it's glowing and warm. The moxibustion heat is directed near the skin in the affected areas until a soothing and deeply penetrating warmth is felt. Moxa can remove stagnation to treat pain, improve Qi and Blood circulation, and dispel cold.
Cupping
Cupping has been a part of Chinese Medicine for over 2,500 years. It relieves aches and pains, improves circulation, and also helps with respiratory and digestive issues. Glass cups create a suction that draws Qi and Blood to the surface of the affected part of the body to officiate healing and pain relief. Cupping may be scheduled as a separate appointment. Gua Sha
Although Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique used by Chinese Medicine practitioners for thousands of years, it is relatively unknown in the West. It is recognized throughout Asia as a highly effective treatment for chronic pain conditions, stress, fatigue, and a host of other ailments. First, massage oil is applied to a specific meridian (energy pathway), or affected area on your body. A specially designed, round edged Gua Sha tool is used to apply short brisk strokes to an area. The process creates red patches of skin (called "Sha"), and works to detoxify blood and restore the healthy flow of Qi and blood to the area. Gua Sha is a firm rubbing that patients find very therapeutic and releasing. The redness of the "Sha" can vary from pale pink to deep reddish purple, depending on the condition of the patient. The darker the Sha the longer the color will take to fade, but all color should be resolved in 2-3 days.
Tui Na
Tui Na is a method of massage that through specialized methods of touching the body along the meridians and on specific acupressure point can perform many of the same functions as acupuncture such as relieving stagnation of Qi and Blood, encouraging a free flow of Qi and Blood, and nourishing Yin and Yang.
Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture is a method used to maximize the effect of acupuncture by producing a continual stimulation of Qi throughout the acupuncture treatment. A device is attached to certain needles during your treatment that delivers gentle electrical pulses between two points. This helps restore the healthy flow of Qi (energy) through your body, removing any blockages and clearing out stagnant areas, thus creating a stronger and clearer experience of health and well-being.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbs are the equivalent of Western medication. Herbs and are a substantial part of healing and health maintenance. One reason for this is that a patient is able to take herbs several times a day, every day to maintain or fight disease, whereas a patient should only have acupuncture treatments every other day at the most. Herbs have specific functioning to complement acupuncture and other healing modalities in quest to fight disease, such as expel cold, remove stagnation, drain damp, tonify Zang Fu, raise Qi, and cool blood.
