A: I'm drawn to alternative forms of healthcare simply because I believe that much of Western medicine, particularly in this country, focuses on easing the symptom, not looking at the problem. Unless you grew up in a household that focused on the benefit of eating right and daily exercise, it can be easy to fall into mainstream cultural habits that include fast food, soda and too much screen time.
Q: What drew you to Wellness Minneapolis?
A: I was drawn to the Wellness Minneapolis because of the services that are provided. I am more and more drawn to holistic health practices because of the focus on treating the problem, not jus the symptoms.
Q: What are your interests in holistic medicine?
A: I believe that holistic medicine helps one to understand sustainability when it comes to health care. It focuses on the long term solution of treating the problem, not the symptom. I am interested in learning more about how food is medicine and can be used to heal the body.
Q: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: My dog, every morning I wake up next to a little furry face begging me to take her outside.
Q: What are you currently working on in your life?
A: Forgiveness and letting things go.
Q: What is your favorite thing to eat?
A: Bread. My favorite food is bread. I am a baker, and I have recently discovered the joy of garbanzo bean flour. Pies and cookies are my speciality.
Q: How do you spend your free time?
A: I watch too many movies. I have an obscene knowledge of classic film trivia, and I am a self-proclaimed Star Wars nut.
Q: What do you look for in a health care provider?
A: Someone who will sit and listen to my concerns in a caring way. I want to know I am heard. I also want someone who will lay it all out for me, what needs to be done and then put it in my hands with the knowledge that I can ask questions if they come up for me.
