Healing Happens Better Together

At Wellness Minneapolis, group programs are a unique way to experience functional medicine in a supportive, community-centered setting. These small-group programs combine education, clinical insight, and shared experience to help patients understand their health more deeply while building sustainable tools for long-term healing.

Group programs are ideal for individuals managing chronic or complex conditions who benefit from additional time, structure, and peer support alongside individualized care.

What Are Group Programs?

Group programs are structured, clinician-led programs focused on a specific health condition or theme. Each session blends functional medicine education with practical guidance, allowing participants to:

These visits do not replace one-on-one care, but instead enhance it by offering deeper learning, repetition, and community connection.

Current Group Offering

Holistic Hashimoto’s Group Program

Living with Hashimoto’s can feel overwhelming. Many people continue to experience fatigue, brain fog, digestive symptoms, weight changes, hair loss, and other symptoms even after starting thyroid medication. They often leave appointments with more questions than answers.

I created the Holistic Hashimoto’s Group Program to provide the education, guidance, and community that simply isn’t possible during a traditional office visit. Over 12 weeks, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Hashimoto’s, learn practical, evidence-informed strategies to support your health, and connect with others navigating many of the same challenges.

Why I Created This Program

After years of caring for patients with Hashimoto’s, I noticed the same pattern over and over again. Patients left their appointments with good intentions but not enough time to fully understand their condition or implement meaningful changes. They wanted more education, more support, and the opportunity to connect with others who truly understood what they were experiencing.

Traditional office visits simply don’t allow enough time to cover everything that matters. I created this program to provide the education, guidance, and community that many of my patients were looking for.

I don’t believe there is one supplement, one diet, or one protocol that works for everyone with Hashimoto’s. My goal is to help you understand the many factors that can influence autoimmune thyroid disease so you can make informed decisions alongside your healthcare team and build an approach that fits your life.

This program combines current research, clinical experience, and practical strategies in a format designed to educate, support, and create lasting lifestyle change.

Is This Program Right for You?

What the Program Covers

Whether you’ve been newly diagnosed or living with Hashimoto’s for years, this program is designed to help you better understand your condition and feel more confident managing your health.

The educational content is delivered through self-paced online modules that include recorded presentations, detailed handouts, worksheets, and practical resources that you can revisit at any time.

Our in-person meetings are intentionally different. Rather than spending our time in another lecture, we’ll focus on discussion, questions, troubleshooting challenges, accountability, and building community.

Throughout the program, you’ll also have access to a private online community where you can ask questions, share successes, and encourage one another between meetings.

The Elimination Diet

As part of the program, we’ll work through a guided elimination and reintroduction protocol together. Participation is completely optional. You’ll receive the full educational experience and benefit from the group discussions whether or not you choose to complete the elimination diet.

If you are pregnant, have a history of disordered eating, or have a medical condition that may make an elimination diet inappropriate, please discuss participation with your healthcare provider before beginning this portion of the program.

Optional Laboratory Testing

Participants who would like laboratory testing during the program may purchase an optional thyroid panel through Quest Diagnostics. Additional information will be provided after registration.

Community Expectations

This is a supportive learning community where participants are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another. To help create a safe environment, we ask everyone to respect the privacy of fellow participants and keep personal information shared during group sessions confidential.

Access to the Course

After registering, you’ll receive access to the program through PracticeBetter. Course materials and the private online community become available at the start of the program. You’ll continue to have access to all course materials after the program ends, allowing you to revisit the videos, handouts, and resources whenever you need them.

Important Information

This program is educational in nature and is designed to complement, not replace, your medical care. Participation does not establish a doctor-patient relationship or substitute for individualized medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment.

Questions Before Registering?

If you’re unsure whether this program is the right fit for you, or if you have questions about the elimination diet, laboratory testing, or the course structure, please schedule a discovery call with me. I’d be happy to help you determine whether this program is a good fit for your goals.

Program Structure

Guest practitioners may occasionally join sessions to provide complementary perspectives that align with whole-person care.

Why Choose Group Visits?

Many participants describe group visits as both empowering and validating, a space where knowledge and connection work together.

” Dr. Barrett is such an incredible wealth of knowledge. She’s very professional and organized while at the same time being exceptionally warm and approachable. I loved both the class content and her teaching style. I also loved the group format. It felt really good to see the same faces over the weeks and I felt that we grew to support each other over time, some of us have continued to be in touch after the class.”

Additional Groups Coming Soon

The Holistic Hashimoto’s Program is the first of several planned educational offerings. Future programs may address additional hormone, autoimmune, and metabolic health topics.

Join our newsletter to hear when new groups and classes become available. If there is a topic you would like to see offered, we welcome your input.

Frequently Asked Questions About Group Programs

What are group programs at Wellness Minneapolis?

Group programs are clinician-led educational programs focused on specific health conditions or themes. They bring together functional medicine education, practical guidance, and community support in a format that makes expert-level health information more accessible, more affordable, and easier to act on alongside others who are navigating similar experiences.

No. Group programs are educational, not clinical. They do not include individualized assessment, lab interpretation for your specific case, or personalized treatment planning. What they do offer is a structured, evidence-informed foundation that can meaningfully support your understanding and self-advocacy, whether you are working with a provider already or exploring whether one-on-one care is the right next step.

The Holistic Hashimoto’s Group Program is appropriate for people who are newly diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, already working with a functional or naturopathic provider, seeking to better understand labs and symptoms, or looking for community while navigating autoimmune thyroid disease. You do not need to be a Wellness Minneapolis patient to participate.

Topics include Hashimoto’s as an autoimmune condition, thyroid lab markers, nutrition strategies, nutrients and supplements, gut-adrenal-immune connections, and lifestyle factors that influence thyroid health and symptom burden.

Yes. Additional group programs may be offered in the future around hormone, autoimmune, metabolic, and other whole-person health topics. Joining the mailing list is the best way to hear about new offerings when they launch.
